It was nearly a year ago that our latest trip ended early by us loading our Goldwing and trailer into a U-haul truck for the ride home from Canada. The discussions of this year's adventure started almost as soon as we arrived home but the fact that it is truly happening is only now sinking in.
We thought last year's trip to Alaska was the "Bucket List" trip and yet this year we are taking on an even bigger challenge. Europe and the ALPS.Pictured here is the 2006 GL1800 and small cargo trailer that are on their way to England as I write. They are due to arrive in the next few days and will be stored by a dealer in Chester, UK until Deb and I arrive to pick them up the last week of Aug.
The couple who went to Alaska with us last year will be meeting us in Switzerland the first week of Sept and we'll spend the next couple weeks riding the roads of the ALPS. The intended route should take us through France, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Spain before we return to the UK to come home in mid Oct.There is still much planning to do and confirmations to receive but plane tickets have been purchased and the bike is almost there so there is no turning back now. There will not be much posted in the coming days, I just wanted to get this started so the link could be provided to those interested in following. We fly from Sacramento, Ca on Aug 24 arriving in London Aug 25. I will try to make weekly entries until we depart, but the journey begins in 4 weeks.
